Buddy Program
Whether you’re enjoying this extended time at home or struggling to adjust to this new (temporary) way of life – many of us may benefit from having a neighbor to check-in with periodically as we deal with this new reality. Being physically distant from others may be a challenge, loss of work, an extrovert who misses the opportunity to connect with others, competing expectations to balance working from home while also providing school instruction to your children, simply needing to know there’s someone you can call if/when you want to chat: there are a wide variety of reasons we might want to connect with others at this time. We customize matches, depending on individual responses. |
Elderly Buddy Program 2.0
Over the first 3.5 weeks that MapleGOOD had been in existence, the need for elderly and differently-abled homebound neighbors to have someone to talk to and connect with became apparent. Most have been following Stay At Home orders and have been in their homes or apartments, alone for weeks already. This offshoot of our original Social Distance Support program is aimed at pairing up elderly/differently-abled homebound neighbors to those that are willing to check-in on them every so often over the phone, maybe have your kids decorate their sidewalk, offer landscaping help, or just reassurance that they have someone to call. Any needs that may arise can be diverted to Homebound Help. |
